Part Six

Haven't been doing much lately, what with the Holidays and all. I picked up the new rear bumper, and found that it didn't quite fit on the left side, against the fender. Did some measurements and found that it's not the original fender. It's a little wider in some spots, and narrower in others, than the right side. So my next job is to find another '69 fender to replace it with.

I also got the new torsion arms and installed the lowers. I was going to install the upppers, but the camber adjusters were froze onto the old ball joint studs. Rather than try and struggle with getting the old adjusters off, I ordered new ones, which should be in next week.

The only real thing left to do is strip the windows and all the trim rubber off, and do the final prep for painting, but that's still a few weeks away. So in the meantime I figured I'd list what I've got for it, so far. I've also added the approx costs.

As you can see, I've spent a little over $660 bucks since I picked up the Bug in October. There's other things I probably forgot to put on the list. A lot of the above is being stored until I have it painted, so I don't have a complete inventory. I figure with the Paint, Headliner, Seatcovers, Door Panels, and other misc. parts and trim, I'll spend another $500-$600. Added to my initial investment, I'm looking at no more than $2,300.00 total to be invested in this project. The NADA "Yellow Book" lists the value of a VW in the condition it will finally be in at around $6,000.00. Although a reasonable value will be more like 4-5 Thousand. All things considered, I'm not looking at making a profit, since this will be a daily driver and run-around car.

Keep checking back as the project progresses.
