My 1969 Volkswagen Type I Beetle

Restored over a 6 month period. November 2001 - May 2002

You should know by now that a VW project is never really done. There's always something more that you needs to be done. The pictures below are what I've done since the "finish" in May.

As I mentioned way back, I put Cal-look rubber on the front and rear windows, but wanted to convert to the American look chrome strip rubber. Due to inferior El Cheapo rubber that split only a few months after install, I bouught the WCM good stuff with the strips and replaced the rubber. Now the chrome effect is complete, and it's closer to original than before.

I also did some detail on the engine. A few chrome goodies such as generator and coil cover and new chrome generator pulley. I got an instruction sticker (in German) for the air cleaner and Wolfsburg sticker for the fan shroud. For added cooling I also put on a set of finned SCAT aluminum-bolt on valve covers. (The oil leak on the heater box is from the old covers. The bolt-ons don't leak a drop)

.Back to the Beginning!

Do you have a 1958-1979 "Square Window" Volkswagen Beetle?
If so, be sure to add it to the
Square Window Registry.
